One of the
leading web designers from Singapore’sleading creative ad agency brings to you the 5 tips YOU NEED TO KNOW! To
ensure that your website is ahead of the pack!
1.)
Less is more
“The beauty lies in simplicity”
The 80/20
rule applies here, always remember when designing a website that 20% of your
website should display 80% of the content. We always have the temptation to
“Add More” But as a designer you must
remember that clarity trumps persuasion. Another thing that I faced when I was
starting out my career was that I was afraid of the white spaces. Don’t be
afraid of the white spaces, they are an integral part of the website and must
stay there to look clean and sophisticated. Get rid of the clutter.
2.) Design every page as a landing page
“Details are the
difference between good stuff and great stuff!”
What most web designers think is that a user enters their
website through the homepage and navigates into the site, whereas research
shows that majority of visits for most sites begin on a page that is not a home
page. It is imperative for you as designers to ensure that every page has some key information.
3.) Intuitive Navigation
“Inspiration exists but it
has to find you working!”
Research shows that confusing
navigation layouts mostly result in people quitting the page, rather than
figuring it out. Put all your not so important links at the bottom of the page,
create an icon button that takes you to the home screen directly and always
make sure your side bar is not cluttered and only important/relevant
information is on it. Simplicity is the key to success.
4.)
The Buttons
“When you pay attention to detail, the
bigger picture takes care of itself!”
What
a lot of web designers miss out on is the buttons on their web pages. There are
plenty options available for a designer, you can change the font, change the
color or even change the opacity, when the use is hovering above the Submit or
Send buttons. Increasing the overall appeal of your website and showing your
attention to detail.
